Once part of Chipstead
Until the early twentieth century Hooley was little more than a sparsely inhabited hamlet within neighbouring Chipstead, only later developing an identity of its own.
At a road junction
The A23 links Hooley north to Coulsdon in the London Borough of Croydon, and just to the south the road divides into the A23 towards Redhill and the M23 motorway, which meets the M25.
